Formula 1 has revealed its calendar for the 2026 season, confirming 24 races between March and December. While the number of races remains unchanged, there are some notable shifts in dates, race order, and circuits.

As well as a new venue, 2026 also brings two new teams and sweeping changes to the technical regulations making it particularly tempting for those thinking of planning an F1 trip.
Lighter, more agile cars, active aerodynamics, and sustainable fuels are on the way. It’s also the year Cadillac joins the grid alongside Audi.
A Quick Overview of the 2026 F1 Calendar
- 24 races from March 6–December 6
- See the new cars and teams first in Melbourne—the season opens with a double-header in Australia and China
- New Spanish GP in Madrid (replacing Imola)
- Zandvoort and Barcelona likely hosting their final Grand Prix for the foreseable future
- Season ends with two triple-headers: Austin–Mexico–Brazil and Las Vegas–Qatar–Abu Dhabi
Imola Gets Axed And Saying Goodbye to Barcelona
The Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix has been dropped from the calendar after contract talks failed to produce a renewal. While races could be hit and miss, the circuit has always been a hit with F1 spectators thanks to its easy access from Bologna, the passionate tifosi and scenic Italian setting.
Another circuit that hasn’t always produced great racing but which is nonetheless a fan favourite, the Circuit de Catalunya is likely to be hosting its last Grand Prix next year as Madrid looks set to take over the reins. Both the Spanish circuit’s grandstand appeal and proximity to tourist Mecca Barcelona made it popular with visitors.
Zandvoort’s Likely Farewell
The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix is expected to be the last for now, with no agreement in place to extend the race beyond this year. This makes the August 21–23 event important for fans eager to catch the unique seaside party atmosphere while they still can.
If you want to attend while you still can and see Max Verstappen on home soil, start planning early as demand will be high if this is indeed the final race at Zandvoort.
New Destination: Madrid Joins the Calendar
One of the headline changes for 2026 is the addition of Madrid’s Madring circuit. This is a semi-street circuit around the IFEMA exhibition centre. Construction is underway, with the race slated for September 11–13.
It remains to be seen how the new venue will stack up for spectators, but its urban setting makes it easy to combine with sightseeing and Madrid offers easy transport links, being five minutes from the airport with direct metro access.
