US GP Schedule 2023: Formula 1

Track Schedule

The US GP weekend follows F1’s Sprint format. F1 track action starts on Friday at COTA with a 1-hour free practice session (FP1) for teams to find the perfect setup. Qualifying takes place on Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, the Sprint Shootout sets the grid for the Sprint later that day. The Grand Prix is on Sunday, with starting positions determined by the results of Friday’s qualifying session.

Pitstop Practice

Spectators with a view of the pits try not to blink. This is where pit crews hone their skills for the 2-second tyre change.

Pitstop Practice at COTA is from 11:30 – 12:00 on Saturday.

Driver Track Parade

This is when the grandstands really start to fill up. 2 hours before lights out, drivers warm up for the race by waving at fans and answering questions. Last chance photo op before the helmets go on.


The Driver Parade at the US GP is from 11:50 – 12:20 on Sunday.

US GP Schedule 2023: Support Races


Masters Series

Masters Historic Racing is the world’s leading series of historic motor racing. The series includes historic Formula One cars, sports cars, 60s touring cars and GT cars.

The schedule for COTA sees the series complete practice and qualifying sessions on Friday. There are two races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Porsche Carrera Cup North America

The Porsche Carrera Cup North America is a one-make sports car racing series that features Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars. Winners of the North American series earn the opportunity to compete in international Porsche one-make series. The series features some of the most talented sports car drivers in North America, competing in a variety of events across the continent.

Track sessions on the timetable include a practice session on Friday, followed by qualifying and race one on Saturday. The second and final race takes place on Sunday.

COTA Music Lineup

The Circuit of the Americas is no stranger to big-name acts. There’s a plethora of performers on over 4 stages.

In 2023, the headliners taking to the Super Stage are The Killers (Friday) and Queen and Adam Lambert (Saturday).
